HAU, IOC to help farmers in beekeeping

They aim to establish small beekeeping units as a form of self-employment, receiving both financial and technical assistance. Sharing information in this regard an official spokesperson of the university said that an MOU has been signed between Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University and Indian Oil Corporation Limited in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of CCSHAU and the Executive Director of Northern Regional Pipeline on behalf of Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The spokesperson highlighted that Haryana is one of the leading states in honey production among states and represents the entire country in beekeeping areas. He emphasised how landless, unemployed, and illiterate farmers in the state can strengthen their economic situation by adopting beekeeping as a means of employment. The main objective of the initiative is to popularise beekeeping, especially among women, to establish self-employment opportunities. He said that beekeeping will not only increase livelihood resources for farmers, especially women, but also offer health benefits. Haryana presents excellent opportunities for employment in beekeeping. Haryana Agricultural University is actively engaging with farmers, playing a crucial role in their upliftment.
