A teacher, like a sculptor, enhances the hidden talent within a student and gives their personality a new shape. These thoughts were expressed today by Principal Dr. Rajinder Kaur while addressing students and teachers during the inauguration of a creative writing workshop organized by the Punjabi Department, Punjabi Literary Society, and Cultural Committee at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women, Jhar Sahib, located 15 kilometers from here.

Renowned playwright and thinker Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep participated as the keynote speaker. He meticulously explained the process of writing in genres such as stories, essays, poems, and plays, stating that creative writing is like a child engrossed in play, creating an imaginary world with great seriousness, immersing not only in a realistic sense but also emotionally.

He explained the four stages of creation ? information, knowledge, understanding, and empathy ? through examples to the students. To demonstrate how imagery, symbols, and metaphors can be used in writing, students were given different words to create poems and stories. He added that presenting old ideas in a new way defines the identity of a writer.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Rajinder Kaur praised the efforts of the Punjabi Department, led by Dr. Mahipinder Kaur, Jasveer Kaur, in-charge of the Punjabi Literary Society, and Dr. Sunita Koshal, convener of the Cultural Committee, in organizing the workshop.

She emphasized that every student has some hidden talent, and it is the teacher's duty to recognize and shape that talent like a sculptor, giving it a beautiful and fresh form. With this goal in mind, the college's Punjabi Department organizes various activities such as extension lectures, seminars, interactive sessions, and discussions to ensure students learn something new and shine in the field of literature.

On this occasion, specialist Sukhjeevan from the fields of print and photography also participated. The workshop was highly appreciated by the college's Local Management Committee.
