Workshop on Cooking of Millets at Pbi Varsity

category Regional, patiala, , tags Regional, patiala, , DW BUREAU PATIALA The Punjabi University Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management organized a workshop on Cooking of Millets under the flagship celebrations of International Year of Millets 2023, all over the world. The workshop focused on hands-on training to the specially abled children of the Patiala School for Deaf and Blind, wherein students were exposed to different varieties of millets like foxtail, barnyard, kutki, Sorghum, Kangni, Pearl millet, Kodra and their exceptional health benefits. The students in the workshop were trained by Dr Chef Parminder Singh Dhillon, Head of the department, and Dr Anupam Deep from Patiala Nature Care Centre run by Dr Amar Singh Azad and were taught making different varieties of kebabs, salads, soups and desserts out of millets. Students were made to learn how to innovate millets for creating sumptuous dishes. The workshop was presided over by Sukhwinder Singh Kharoud, Mutti and Dhillon from Vue Now Infotech Group, who are always keen for participating and contributing in such noble societal events all across the world. Sukhwinder Kharoud appreciated the efforts put in by the students of the department and congratulated the entire team of the department. Dr Hardaman, Dr Amandeep, Pamaldeep Gurna, Sandeep, Anuradha and Amrinder, Gurvinder. Sukhwinder applauded the efforts done by the lab attendants of the department Jagdish, Surinder, Kuldeep and Raju whose dedicated and passionate efforts contributed towards the success of the workshop. The workshop was one of its kinds of events organized in the region for promoting and creating awareness about millets. Dr Chef Dhillon said that their department will always strive for creating an urge among the society, especially the young ones, for incorporating millets in their daily diet by organizing a series of millets workshops in the coming future.
