DW BUREAU / Mohali Mohali Police has arrested a woman after 305 gm of heroin was recovered from her possession. According to the police, while patrolling near the Essar petrol pump, Main Highway Lalru, they apprehended the accused, identified as Poonam Gupta. As per the police, she was caught under suspicious activity and was carrying a purse along with her , which when searched in the presence of Gurpreet Singh Bains, DSP, SAS Nagar, was found to contain 305 gram of Heroin. Satinder Singh Senior Superintendent of Police, District SAS Nagar, has stated that keeping in view the guidelines laid down in order to curb the menace of Drug Trafficking carried out by various elements in the society, they were able to achieve a breakthrough. An FIR was registered against the woman, following which she was arrested. The accused was produced in the court and a police remand was obtained on April 02. During interrogation, the women revealed, that she had acquired the substance from a person in Delhi, and was to deliver this to another person in Chandigarh, whose search is underway. Earlier also a case under the NDPS Act was also registered against this women in Indore and was sentenced to a 5 year imprisonment. The police said that the accused also revealed, that after the death of her first husband, She remarried this Nigerian man named Kingcley Kamalu .The woman is a frequent visitor of Kenya, and she may be involved with Drug Traffickers in Kenya , which is being investigated thoroughly.
