Vet Varsity scientists win 7 awards at intl symposium

Faculty members and students from Department of Livestock Products Technology (LPT), College of Veterinary Science (COVS), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University participated in the 10th conference of Indian Meat Science Association and international symposium on "Holistic Approach to the Meat Food Quality & Safety in Continuum from Farm to Fork" organized by Department of LPT, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.). During this international symposium, the Department bagged seven awards for the research work presented in different sessions. Dr. Om Prakash Malav and Dr Rajesh V. Wagh, Assistant Professor were conferred with "Best Paper Awards" for their research work on "Development of dog biscuits incorporated with chicken liver powder" and "Optimization of SOP for the ultrasonic extraction of bioactive compounds" respectively.
Dr Mehak Jandyal, PhD. Scholar won two "Best Paper award" for her research work on "Development of high fiber pork sausages and extension of its shelf life by incorporating the combination of phytoextracts". Dr Ishani Parmar, M.V.Sc student won the 1st prize in poster presentation for the research work on "Development of low fat pork patties using response surface methodology".
Dr Rushikesh Kantale, PhD student won 3rd prize in poster presentation for the research work on "Antimicrobial properties of piper betel leaves extracts against common food borne pathogens"
Dr S.P.S. Ghuman, Dean, COVS applauded the efforts of faculty members and students. He also added that this scientific recognition will certainly motivate the department to work meticulously in the area of livestock products technology.
