DW BUREAU / Chandigarh Sukhbir Singh Badal, President, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) announced the panel of Students Organization of India (SOI) for the Panjab University Campus Student Council (PUCSC) 2022 elections. In a meeting with the student leaders at the party headquarters here, he said that being amongst the young leaders and members of SOI , he is reminded of the dynamic late student leader Vicky Middukhera. Sukhbir Badal said, "I am acutely feeling the absence of Vicky from the scene of youth politics. The real tribute to Vicky Middukhera's memory will be a massive victory for SOI in the PU elections." It is to be noted that Vicky Middukhera was handpicked and appointed by Sukhbir Badal as the president of the Chandigarh unit of SOI, a student organization affiliated with the Youth Akali Dal. Badal further said that he liked Vicky very much, as he had characteristics which are rarely seen in people. He informed that Vicky was from Sukhbir Badal's own area and whenever Badal visited Chandigarh, Vicky was always there for him. SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia and Vicky's brother Ajaypal Singh Middukhera were also present in the meeting. Badal expressed confidence that the SOI panel will win a thumping majority in the PUCSC elections as a large number of students are vehemently supporting the SOI team to work for the betterment of Panjab University and improve the current campus situation. Madhav Sharma was declared the SOI candidate for the post of President in the PUCSC election. Apart from this, the names of President Jashan Jawanda, Chairman Parvinder Singh Nehal, Party President Gagandeep Singh Dhaliwal, and Campus President Gurshan Dhaliwal were also announced. Iqbal Preet Singh, Chetan Choudhary, and Arpit Makkar have been appointed as PU and college election in-charges. (editor@dailyworld.in)
