The society and the country will be shaped according to the individuals within it, as individuals build society, and society builds the nation. For this, education is a crucial foundation, and the Haryana government has undertaken unprecedented efforts to raise the level of education in the state and provide education to every child. In the state, the government has spent approximately Rs. 3,500 crores to provide various facilities, including dual desks, for children in nearly 14,000 schools along with civil works, said Sh. Manohar Lal while interacting with the members of school management committees as part of the CM ki Vishesh Charcha programme held through audio conferencing in New Delhi. During the interaction, the Chief Minister said that the government is considering giving SMCs the right to hire teachers for a period of 2 to 6 months. Besides this, the government is also planning to make some modifications in this regard. He said that approximately 14,000 government schools are running in the state, with School Management Committees formed to supervise these schools. In schools with up to 300 students, there are 12 members of the school management committee. In schools with up to 500 students, there are 16 members, and in schools with more than 500 students, there are 20 members. The underlying idea is to encourage all members of society to be actively involved in their children s education and contribute to the development of schools, shared Sh. Manohar Lal. The Chief Minister said that they have empowered the school management committees and provided them the authority for procurement, construction, and operation. After gaining the power to carry out construction works up to Rs. 25 lakh, the committees have executed civil works with such expertise that there has been a saving of 15 to 20 percent, he informed. He added, not only that, the quality of construction materials and the quality of finished buildings are better than those done by contractors. Similarly, the procurement of dual desks has been commendable. Sh. Manohar Lal stated that the government is planning to introduce the Management Information System (MIS) soon to ensure the student-teacher ratio in the state s schools. Under this system, the arrangement of teachers will be ensured based on the number of students in each school. If permanent appointments cannot be made then temporary teachers will be recruited to ensure their presence, he said. Manohar Lal mentioned that there are approximately 47 to 48 lakh children in the state, aged 6 to 18 years, attending schools. Of these, about 20-22 lakh are receiving education in government and the same number in private schools. (editor dailyworld.in)
