Dr Vikram Bali, Principal, DBU Hospital, welcomed Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, who was the Chief Guest and Dr Sachin Dev Mehta, Member of Dental Council of India. Dr Zora Singh congratulated the department for organizing the lecture. He said that ragging is an act that involves an activity violating the dignity of a student and is a punishable offence. It is necessary to educate the youth about the menace of ragging and the manner in which it can be curbed. Dr Sachin Dev Mehta, who was the guest speaker at the event, shared his views on the means to maintain a healthy and motivating environment in the campus, emphasizing on the significance of a ragging free campus. He listed the adverse effects of ragging on the students mind which caused annoyance, hardship, psychological harm and also the ways in which it raises fears or apprehensions in a fresher or a junior student. Also, he addressed the 1st year BDS and MDS students to make them aware that if anyone faces ragging anywhere, he she should inform the head of the institution since ragging is an offence and is banned. After that, there was a skit presentation by the students of BDS 1st and 2nd year. The skit elaborated the issue of ragging and the students showed in their act how it affects the life of a student, and also gave a very important message to maintain a ragging free campus.
