SDO (Civil) office at each sub-division for property registration

category Regional, chandigarh, , tags Regional, chandigarh, , DW BUREAU Chandigarh While introducing a significant administrative reform, which involves the consolidation of administrative functions at the sub-divisional and district levels, Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal here today approved a proposal regarding formation of each Sub-Division as a sub-district for the purpose of registration of instruments of transfer of properties under sections 17 and 18 of the Registration Act, 1908. As per the decision, in supersession of all other previous notifications issued in this behalf, under section 5 of the Registration Act, 1908, each Sub-Division already notified under sub-section (3) of section 7 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974) be notified to be a sub-district for the purpose of registration of instruments of transfer of any property under sections 17 and 18 of the said Act, 1908. Furthermore, in order to provide a wider alternative to the public, the government has decided to establish an office of each Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) also as the office of Sub-Registrar, and the office of each District Revenue Officer of every District as the office of Joint Sub-Registrar of each respective Sub-District. It has been further decided to designate each Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) as the Sub-Registrar of the Sub-District concerned, each District Revenue Officer, the Joint Sub-Registrar of the Sub-District of his her place of posting and each Tehsildar and Naib-Tehsildar shall be the Joint Sub-Registrar of the Sub-district concerned for the purposes of registration of instruments of transfer of properties under sections 17 and 18 of the Registration Act, 1908 (Central Act 16 of 1908), as amended from time to time. Consequently, on June 30, 2023, orders regarding the same were issued to all the Divisional Commissioners, the Deputy Commissioners--cum-District Registrars, Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil), District Revenue Officers, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars etc. (editor dailyworld.in)
