category Regional, chandigarh, , tags Regional, chandigarh, , DW BUREAU Chandigarh Calling the Aam Aami Party-led Punjab government s assurances a pack of lies, Punjab s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday asked the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal to explain why should the Sikh protesters, seeking justice on the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and alleged killing of two Sikhs in 2015, believe him when the AAP had not kept its promises earlier. Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that it seemed utterly absurd of the Cabinet Minister to go to the protest site and again give false assurances to the Sikh Organisation of completing the investigation by February 28. In reality, the cabinet of CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government had turned away from its promises on numerous occasions. The government had planned to take possession of panchayat land, allegedly grabbed by real estate developers in Mohali. As per some media reports, the drive was abandoned at the last minute. Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has yet to say anything about this. Isn t it a blatant double-dealing of AAP , LoP asked. Qadian legislator, Bajwa said that Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Kultar Singh Sandhwan had already failed to keep his word on the same issue. Sandhwan had promised to deliver justice by November 30 last year yet it remained unfulfilled. In December last year, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited the protesting site outside the liquor distillery unit at Mansurwala village in the Zira subdivision. The protesters in his presence said that they had no trust in the AAP government. What could be more shameful than this Within a year of the formation of the government, the people started expressing disbelief in the AAP government , Bajwa added. The opposition leader said that instead of making false assurances through his unreliable cabinet colleagues, CM Mann should take action to redress people s grievances. (editor dailyworld.in)
