DW BUREAU / Chandigarh The 49th Rose Festival ended with the award ceremony to the corona warriors of the city here at Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh was the chief guest during the closing ceremony. K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Senior Deputy Mayor, Farmila, Deputy Mayor, other councilors and officers of MCC were present during the simple function. The Mayor said that this year the MCC could not organize various competitions during this Rose festival due to COVID-19 guidelines, while some flower arrangements have been done by the horticulture department, MCC. He said that next year will be the Golden Jubilee of the Rose Festival and will be celebrated with full fervour. The Commissioner said that MCC has decided to honour all the RWAs, MWAs, NGOs and Councillors of MCC for rendering their best services during the COVID-19 period. He said that these local level organizations supported and helped the citizens of Chandigarh a lot during the COVID period. The Mayor and Commissioner honoured the representatives of 82 Resident Welfare Associations, 36 NGOs of city and 37 individuals including officials of UT Administration and social workers of city and 230 employees of MCC including Gardeners, Safai Karamcharis and other workers through their respective Head of Departments during the programme.
