Revision of voter lists in Mohali reviewed

In view of the forthcoming Assembly Elections and following the directions of Election Commission Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Electoral Roll Observer-cum-Divisional Commissioner, Rupnagar held a review meeting today at District Administrative Complex to review the revision of voter lists. In this meeting he also reviewed the matters related to revenue cases in the district.
Disclosing this Esha Kalia Deputy Commissioner said that in today's meeting the Commissioner-cum-Electoral Roll Observer has directed the Electoral Registration Officers to expedite the revision of voter lists in urban and rural areas.
He directed that the residents of urban and rural areas who have been able to cast their votes under the eligibility date of 1-1-2022 should be included in the voter rolls by setting up as many camps as possible. He also directed that the people of the area concerned should be informed in advance through various media forms about the date and time before the departure of the BLO at the polling station in any area so that eligible potential voters could arrive on time.
Manvesh Sidhu also directed the Electoral Registration Officers to make the general public more aware to make their votes through Residence Welfare Associations, public address system, Posters, Banners, Mandir Gurudwaras etc. At the same time maximum awareness should be generated about the Election Commission of India's portal NVSP.in and Voter Helpline App and also about toll helpline number 1950.
Sidhu also reviewed the revenue cases of District SAS Nagar. He directed the Revenue Officers to expedite the disposal of all pending cases of registries and mutations besides using online portal RCMS so as to enable the public to know the pendency and clearance of their cases in a transparent manner.
Prominent among others who were present in the meeting included Additional Deputy Commissioner General Komal Mittal, Assistant Commissioner (G) Tarsem Chand, Mohali SDM. Harbans Singh, SDM Kharar Abikesh Gupta, SDM Dera Bassi Kuldeep Bawa besides DRO, Tehsildars, ROs, AROs and Additional DEOs of all the Assembly constituencies of the district.
