Rally marks Environment Day at World University

On the occasion of World Environment Day, volunteers of NSS, and students of Department of Botany and Environmental Science, and Department of Physical Education and Sports Technology of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a rally on the theme "Only One Earth" to make Fatehgarh Sahib a plastic-free city and to create awareness among the residents for water conservation.
This rally was organized with the collaboration of Punjab Pollution Control Board (Regional Office), Fatehgarh Sahib. The rally was flagged off by Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University and Parneet Shergill, Deputy Commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib.
On this occasion Prof. Prit Pal Singh congratulated the students for this endeavour and said that we all should take a resolution to free the earth from single use plastic.
He further said that we should follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and should work together to keep nature pollution free. The Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib Parneet Shergill while addressing the students said that plastic is a harmful substance for us, which gives rise to many diseases affecting human life, therefore there is an urgent need to completely boycott the uses of single use plastic. On this occasion Avneet Kaur, ADC (Urban Development), Anuradha Sharma, Executive Engineer (Environment) and others were also present.
