To reinforce the significance of the Constitution of India, the officers and staff of Punjab Raj Bhawan under Shri Banwarilal Puorhit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh pledged to live by the principles laid down in the preamble.
They read out the Preamble and pledged to uphold its spirit.
Commemorating the 73rd anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of India, Governor Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh paid tributes to the Father of Indian Constitution, Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and to all the stalwarts who worked tirelessly, directly or indirectly to bequeath this most important legacy to us.
Our Constitution commands reverence as it is the charter for the governance of a nation. It enshrines timeless values that remain as our guiding principles and thereby safeguard democracy, said Purohit.
The spirit of our Constitution is elegantly captured in the preamble. In mere eighty-five words, it spells out the core values that propelled the Freedom Struggle, the vision of our Founding Fathers, the dreams and aspirations of every Indian.
The Preamble has rightly been seen as the heart of the Constitution, and at its core are the values of Justice, Liberty, Equality and
Fraternity.
This is the moral compass of our journey together to a glorious future, said Purohit and added that the task before us, is to recognize these noble ideals as a way of life; that is, to translate these words into everyday acts.
He exhorted them to introspect how they can live up to the ideals of the Founding Fathers, as enshrined in the Constitution in general and the Preamble in particular and said that observing Constitution Day may not be seen as a formality; it is reminder to uphold the ideals of our Constitution and strengthen our commitment to contribute to nation
building.
