Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal's stern attitude again reflected in a meeting held at Gurugram towards those who indulge in enjoying public money by rigging government projects and spreading corruption across the state. In order to ensure complete transparency and accountability he has directed to shift the complete focus on the product quality so that potential corruption can be eliminated.
While hearing the matter of corruption which was put forward in the meeting of District Level Grievance Redressal Committee in Gurugram today, he has announced that a Quality Assurance Committee will be constituted soon to ensure quality in the engineering works of the state. This clearly indicates that the Chief Minister is very strict on his stand regarding penalizing the wrongdoers in the construction of any government projects.
It is noteworthy that a week before, on September 4, the Chief Minister had said in his address on the occasion of inauguration and foundation stone laying of 174 projects costing about Rs. 2000 crores for education, health, irrigation, road, transport and infrastructural development in Karnal that a Quality Assurance Committee will be soon be constituted in the state to ensure quality in engineering works.
The Chief Minister Manohar Lal has reiterated today, that the quality assurance committee should be constituted to investigate the engineering works, now corrupt people will be left with no space to carry out their wrong deeds. This shows the honest vision of the Chief Minister and his commitment towards
transparency.
Although it is not so easy to completely eliminate the corruption that has penetrated deep in the system for years, in the last 8 years, the Chief Minister has ensured such a transparent system by launching various online schemes that people of the state have regained their lost confidence in the government.
Whether it is transfer mafia or collusion with contractors in engineering construction works, there have been allegations of an active nexus operating in the previous governments. As far as the present government formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal is concerned, after the year 2014, the above 'notorious businesses' have come under control to a great extent.
The State Government has created the Engineering Works Portal, which will increase transparency in the allocation of government projects. Now the tender for construction work will be online. Through this, the contractors will be able to fill their quotations and need not be required to meet officers back and forth. A mechanism has been developed in which the public can complain about the quality, corruption, mixing or sub-standard materials in the projects on a single portal.
Preliminary inquiry will be done on that complaint and if anyone is found guilty then strict action will be taken as per government rules, if required, that project will be rebuilt.
