DW BUREAU / Chandigarh Extending big relief for the residents of city beautiful on the very first week after becoming Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta announced the waiver of property tax for name change charges, reduced from Rs. 10/- per day to only 10 paisa per day. The MCC has issued notification in this regard today. While sharing this information here today, the Mayor said that one time relaxation in all legacy cases without daily fine has been granted for a period of two months to give notice from 20th January 2023 to 19th March, 2023 and after the expiry of this period, charges as per notification will be levied. The Mayor said that as per the provisions of section 105(1) and (2) of the Act 1994, a notice of transfer or devaluation of land and building shall be given within three months from the date of execution of the instrument of the transfer or after its registration, if it is registered, or after the transfer is affected and within six months from the date of death of the owner. The person to whom the property is transferred or the person on whom the title of deceased devolves are under statutory obligation to inform the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh through said notice failing which penalty shall be levied as per the provisions of law. Mayor further said that all concerned seeking the relaxation shall give a notice/representation in writing to MCC within two months. (editor@dailyworld.in)
