DW BUREAU The Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced on Thursday that now benefits of old age pension and issuance of ration cards will be done through Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) only.' "The linking of old-age pension benefits with PPP will not only help the pension beneficiaries to get all the benefits while sitting at home but they will also not have to make rounds of government offices. If a person attains the prescribed age for getting old-age pension, his pension will automatically start coming to his bank account, said Sh. Manohar Lal. The Chief Minister further shared that after verification the data of 6,618 persons have been sent to the District Social Welfare Officers and they are working to issue the pension benefits to these beneficiaries. So far 4,698 beneficiaries have given consent for releasing their pension benefits, while 1430 have denied taking the said benefits due to their financial conditions, he added. The Chief Minister said that like old age pension data, the data of ration cards holders will also be automatically updated. Under this new system, the colour category of these cards would be automatically changed if there is a change in the income of the beneficiary. "At present around 1.03 lakh families have been identified and surveys are going on and cards have been issued to 33000 families belonging to Sirsa and Kurukshetra district. With this new system In the Sirsa district 49,000 new ration cards have been made while about 81,000 new cards have been made in Kurukshetra district" said Manohar Lal. (editor@dailyworld.in)
