Yadavindra Public School, an iconic legacy school and one of India's most prestigious schools, is all set to celebrate its 75th foundation year. A host of activities have been planned to mark 75 years of the school's existence, culminating into the momentous 'Foundation Celebration' in February 2023.
"A lot many activities will be conducted throughout the year as YPS Patiala enters into its 75th glorious year. A mountaineering expedition and inter-school online sessions on 'Regional Ethnic Diversity' among others will be held," said Raja Malvinder Singh, Chairman of the School Board of Governors.
According to Director, Major General Sanjiv Varma, VSM (Retd), there would be an Inter- School MUN, a Girls Hockey Tournament, an Inter-School Squash Competition, an Inter-School Shooting Competition, a conclave for Heads of Schools and a gala Foundation Day programme in February 2023.
Considered one of the top schools in the country, Yadavindra Public School (YPS) was established by Maharaja Yadavindra Singh in 1948 as an educational home for the students who had to leave their school in Lahore during the partition. Whereas Aitchison College catered more to princes and scions of royal families, YPS was more democratic and secular as it accommodated students from all streams and strata of society.
The school started functioning with nine teachers and 21 students on February 2, 1948. Today the school has grown its strength to 1400 plus students and 125
staff members.
