category Regional, chandigarh, , tags Regional, chandigarh, , DW BUREAU Chandigarh Taking a dig at Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for adopting a different stand on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Punjab s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa and PPCC President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday sought an explanation from the Punjab CM about whether the AAP Punjab leadership was consulted when its bosses sitting in Delhi lent in-principle support to the BJP on UCC. Punjab CM must explain who should Punjabis believe because Punjab CM and Super CM have different views on UCC. It seems that the Punjab CM has taken this U-turn after observing the anti-UCC sentiments of the people of Punjab , Bajwa asked. Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that he and the Indian National Congress had already anticipated that the preparation for the UCC to implement it would severely damage the harmonious and tranquil fabric of the country, where minorities, tribes, and some sections of the majority community would be at the receiving end. Citing a news report, Bajwa said that now Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had broken away from the AAP s stand on the UCC. This instance demonstrated that the AAP Punjab unit was not taken into account when the top leadership of AAP chalked out its strategy on UCC and then the Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak announced in-principle support to AAP. It also illustrates that AAP s top leadership has zero respect for Punjab, which is a Sikh-majority state, and gave a huge mandate to AAP in the assembly election in 2022. It also shows that there was no internal democracy in the AAP, and the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal takes major decisions dictatorially perhaps after the consultation with his cronies. CM Mann certainly is a rubber stamp and the AAP-led Punjab government is being remote-controlled by its top leadership sitting in Delhi , Bajwa added. (editor dailyworld.in)
