category Regional, gurdaspur, , tags Regional, gurdaspur, , DW BUREAU Gurdaspur Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today appealed to Punjabis to maintain the sanctity of religious places of worship while visiting the residence of Sikh youth Pardeep Singh who was killed in a bout of hooliganism two days back at Sri Anandpur Sahib. Talking to newsmen after visiting the residence of Pardeep and expressing his condolences to the latter s father Gurbaksh Singh who is a lieutenant in the armed forces, Mr Bikram Majithia said society also needs to counsel youth not to play loud music or do any other activity which affects the sanctity of religious places . He also asserted that after seeing the state of Pardeep s family he realized that all claims of the Bhagwant Mann government were false. The chief minister is telling youth not to migrate to other countries but youth returning back home are meeting such a gory death because the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is unable to maintain peace in the State. It is due to such incidents that Punjabis living abroad are afraid of coming back to Punjab , he added. Earlier Majithia consoled the bereaved family at Gazikot village and said it was tragic that an NRI youth who had come back to Punjab from Canada had met such a violent death. He participated in the last rites of Pardeep and commiserated with the entire family. He also assured the family that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would render every possible help to ensure justice for Pardeep. (editor dailyworld.in)
