DW BUREAU / Mohali The Rayat Bahra University organised a lecture to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), father of Library Science in India. Sakshi Bahl, Chief Librarian, Rayat Bahra University, delivering the memorial lecture at the Central Library highlighted the achievements and contributions of Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. She motivated the library staff to encourage students to read more and ensure that every user gets the book of his/her choice. Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, along with the Registrar, Dean Academics, Dean of Student Welfare, Deans and Principals of various Schools, faculty members and students of Rayat Bahra University paid floral tributes to Dr. Ranganathan. Dr. Parvinder Singh recalled the immense contribution of Dr. SR Ranganathan. He lauded the valuable role being played by the library staff at Rayat Bahra University. He also reminded them of the huge responsibility on them to motivate students to read more and to disseminate accurate information to the users. (editor@dailyworld.in)
