DW BUREAU / Chandigarh As a result of the concerted efforts made by Haryana Government under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the State has secured second place among the best performing states in the category of states with less than 100 Urban Local Bodies in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey results as announced by the Central Government today. However, in 2019 survey results, Haryana was ranked 9th. Besides this, in the category of garbage-free cities, Karnal has got three stars and Rohtak has got one star. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal congratulated the people of the state for this achievement and said that the main objective of Swachh Bharat Mission is to maintain the ODF status in all areas and improve the level of cleanliness so that everyone can remain healthy. He said that all the Urban Local Bodies of Haryana have been divided into various clusters for integrated Solid Waste Management (door-to-door collection, transportation, processing and disposal) so that this campaign can be successfully implemented in the State. Urban Local Bodies Minister Anil Vij expressed his happiness at the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 announced today by the Central Government. He also expressed his gratitude to all the sanitation workers working in the state. Chief Minister said that Charkhi Dadri has been awarded 1st Rank in the Fastest Mover City in North Zone (with population 50,000 to 1,00,000) for improving its previous rank astonishingly from 850 to 11 in a period of one year only. Besides this, 15 cities of the State have been declared as ODF Plus and 13 as ODF plus-plus. In the Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey, awards have been given on the basis of cleanliness in two categories of Urban Local Bodies having more than one lakh population and less than one lakh population. In the Swachh Survekshan 2020 category of cities with more than one lakh population in Haryana, Karnal has ranked on 17th position, Rothak on 35th, Panchkula on 56th, Gurugram on 62nd, Sonipat on 103rd, Hisar 105th, Rewari 118th and Ambala120th. Whereas in the last year ranking, these cities had bagged 24th, 69th, 71st, 83rd, 161th, 173rd, 264th and 146th positions respectively. Similarly, in the category of cities with less than one lakh population, Charkhi Dadri is has secured 11th position, Gohana on 19th, Kharkhoda 22nd, Narwana 23rd , Tohana 26th. (editor@dailyworld.in)
