J P Dalal highlights role of AH, dairy sector in Haryana

He said that the state houses 2.1 percent of the country s total livestock capacity and produces 116.29 lakh tonnes of milk, which is 5.26 percent of the country s total milk production. JP Dalal said this while addressing during the two-day Summer Meet organized for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector on the occasion of World Milk Day celebration at SKICC, Srinagar; in which 16 ministers of different states and UTs participated. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala presided over the event, in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Expressing gratitude to the Union Minister for organizing this event JP Dalal said that exchange of ideas during the two-day Summer Meet will help in identifying new viable strategies for upgrading various aspects related to animal husbandry and livestock sector, productivity in dairy sector along with processing and value addition. During the summit, all the states were sensitized on various initiatives and schemes of the Central Government and the suggestions and initiatives of different states were discussed with concerned state ministers. J P Dalal highlighted the contribution of animal husbandry and dairy sector in the state by sharing production data, besides discussion on initiatives like vaccination services; mobile veterinary vans and setting up of a call centre for its operation, and other endeavours of the state government. During the meet, the Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister also placed a demand of providing dewormers and mineral mixtures during the time of vaccine of the cattle. He also exhorted to strengthen the veterinary diagnostics, besides providing bulk milk coolers to individual farmers also for processing of milk; as being given to the dairy cooperatives. Director General, Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying department, Dr. BS Laura, Special Secretary Jaibir Singh Arya, along with other officers of the department also accompanied the minister. Union Ministers of State Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Dr L. Murugan, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (GoI), Ms. Alka Upadhyaya, ministers from different states and UTs along with senior officers were also present during the event.
