Health dept focusing on implementation of FW programme

It is purely a voluntary programme in which the eligible couples choose the contraceptives as per their need. The present approach in Family Planning Programme is to provide a basket of contraceptives that is to offer all methods from which an individual can choose according to his her choice. The spokesperson while giving information said, The main objective of the family welfare (FW) programme is to reduce the population growth, to stabilize the population, to avoid unwanted births, to regulate intervals between pregnancies and to increase the use of contraceptives among eligible couples . The spokesperson further said, The Total Fertility Rate of Haryana State (TFR) has reduced from 2.1 to 1.9 as per the NFHS-5 (National Family Health Survey), report which is less than the National TFR (2.2). Family Planning Logistics Management information System (FP-LMIS) programme is implemented in the state up to the level of Sub Centre. All the districts have completed training up to ASHA level. The districts have started issuing and indenting of commodities through the software. All the districts have completed training up to ASHA level. Activities of Project Salaamati which had been enrolled in 7 districts having high unmet need (Faridabad, Gurugram, Mahindergarh, Mewat, Palwal, Panipat and Rewari) are carried out in all districts to cater to the unmet need .
