Meeting the commitment to provide quality, reliable and uninterrupted power supply to the people, Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister, laid the foundation of 66kV Grid substation at Hanuman Chowk in Bathinda on Tuesday. This 66kV Grid substation is to be constructed at the cost of Rs 7.5 crore and the tentative target date of commencement of this substation is November 30. This project is being carried up under the leadership of A. Venu Prasad, CMD, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). Manpreet Singh Badal congratulated the residents of Bathinda and informed them that the project of constructing this 66kV Grid substation is among 12 projects worth several crores that are in progress.
He said the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed to provide better services to our people. Therefore, several other new transmission works are under progress in and around Bathinda. Unmanned 66 kV Gurthari Grid and 66 kV Jiwan Sing Wala Grid are under construction and are expected to be commissioned soon. The capacity of 66 kV Jeond Grid in Rampura Tehsil is also being enhanced from 12.5 MVA to 20 MVA.
The estimated cost of unmanned 66kV Gurthari Grid is Rs 3.23 crore while the project of 66kV substation at Jiwan Sing wala costs around 5.33 crore, said the state finance minister. Venu Prasad said that to ensure power reliability of the grids situated around Bathinda, a ring main system is being created by erecting new 66 kV transmission lines from 66 KV IGC Grid to 66 KV MES Grid and 66 kV IGC Grid to 66 kV Malout Road Grid through which 6 grids will get interconnected namely 66 kV IGC Grid, 66 kV MES Grid, 66 kV Model Town-3 Grid, 66 kV Malout Road Grid and 66 kV Parsramnagar Grid. This ring main arrangement will ensure reliability as in an event of failure of the incoming 66 kV line of a Grid, the Grid could be fed from the 66 kV ring main system.
