Commending the initiative, Director PGIMER, after pledging for organ donation, stated, In view of the ever widening gap between demand and supply, there is a dire need to augment awareness about organ donation, dispel myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation and motivate and encourage the citizens to donate organs and tissues after death as well as imbibe the value of organ donation in their lives. Such initiatives like Angdaan Mahotsav will definitely help in garnering traction for this altruistic and noble cause of organ donation, added Director PGIMER. As mandated by the government, awareness campaign Angdaan Mahotsav is being celebrated in line with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of India. As a part of the campaign, 3 August 2023 will be celebrated as Indian Organ Donation Day to commemorate the first deceased donor organ transplant, after promulgation of The Transplantation of Human Organs Act on 8 July, 1994. The month of July 2023 (1st-31st July) is being observed as the Organ Donation month. (editor dailyworld.in)
