DW BUREAU / MOHALI A live performance by Veenu Kouitsh, professional singer and performing artist, was the highlight of Diwali celebrations at the Rayat Bahra International School. Students celebrated Diwali on the school campus here today with their parents and staff. Traditional fervour and gaiety marked the celebrations. Fun games and food stalls were added attractions which added to the festive spirit. DSP Kharar Rupinder Kaur Sohi was the chief guest. She along with Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University and school principal Abhilasha offered prayers to Lord Ganesha and goddess Lakshmi and lighted candles. A cultural fiesta presented by the students added colour to the celebrations wherein all participated with gay abandon. One of the major attractions of the programme was a display of Diwali cards, diyas, and gift boxes, prepared by the students.The theme of this event was an eco-friendly Diwali. Abhilasha, Principal of the School, conveyed her best wishes to the students and the staff members. She appreciated the gesture of the parents of the students who participated in rangoli making and diya decoration competitions. (editor@dailyworld.in)
