CEO reviews poll preparedness with DEOs and SPs

A review meeting by virtual mode was held to review the poll preparedness with all District Election Officers-cum-Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg here today. In the meeting various issues with regard to preventive and enforcement action for ensuring compliance with Model Code of Conduct were discussed in detail.
The CEO said that in case of postal ballots for 80 plus and Persons with Disability (PwD), proper videography should be done and fool-proof security should be provided to the polling parties. The schedule of visits of polling parties should be intimated in advance to the representatives of the candidates and the voters themselves.
Instructions were issued to disburse the EPIC cards by 30th of this month positively. The DEO's should personally ensure that the EPIC cards were distributed to the enrolled voters well in time.
The DEOs and SPs should personally visit the critical and vulnerable areas and steps should be taken to reduce the vulnerability.
The polling parties should be well taken care of as regards to their boarding and lodging, he said. They may also be informed about the payment of remuneration given to them through a bank account. The proper training of polling parties should be ensured so that the polling process is conducted error free and smoothly.
The CEO also stressed the need for inter-state border meetings regularly and also to hold meetings with the representatives of the political parties, besides perfectly managing the single window system in the office of DEOs for issuance of all types of permissions to the political parties. The SPs were also asked to intensify action related to seizures and deposition of fire-arms.
NIC Natural ice creams restrained from using 'Natural' trademark
New Delhi The Delhi High Court has restrained the makers of NIC Natural Ice Creams from using marks 'Natural' or 'Naturals' in its products.
The high court passed the interm order sayng that the plaintiffs, who are the makers of 'Natural' ice cream have made out a prima facie case for grant of an ex-parte injunction.
"Balance of convenience also lies in favour of the plaintiffs and in case an ex-parte injunction is not granted, plaintiffs are likely to suffer irreparable loss," Justice Jyoti Singh said.
The high court said the makers of 'NIC Natural Ice Creams' are restrained from using plaintiff Siddhant Ice Creams LLP's marks 'Natural', 'Naturals' or 'NIC Natural Ice Creams' and 'NIC', in any form, including any marks identical or deceptively similar to packaging of their products.
It also restrained them from using the domain names 'nicicecreams.com', 'nicnaturalicecreams.com'.
The high court summons to Ameet Pahilani and others, who are the makers of 'NIC Natural Ice Creams' to respond to the suit.
The plaintiffs submitted that they are engaged in the business of manufacturing, marketing and selling ice creams, ice cream shakes and allied products and services under the name and brand 'Natural' since 1984.
They said their products are sold through authorised franchisees in 42 locations across the country including Delhi and 'Natural' and 'Naturals' have become household mark and attained the status of iconic brand for ice creams and ice cream based
products.
The HC said the makers of 'NIC Natural Ice Creams' have dishonestly registered marks bearing the name 'NIC Natural Ice Creams' by incorporating 'Natural' mark, which is an essential part of plaintiffs' trademark and is deceptively similar./ PTI /
