Central Govt appreciated the reforms taken by Power Sector of Haryana

Ranjit Singh, not only line losses have decreased, but all the four power companies of the state have emerged from losses and now they are in profit of about Rs 2 thousand crores. These efforts of the Energy Minister have been appreciated by the Union Power Minister as well. The Central Government has also sent a delegation to study the reforms in Haryana. Sh. Ranjit Singh has also directed the officers of the Department to carry out an awareness campaign to prevent power theft. Apart from this, he directed to keep strict vigil to prevent power theft in the state. Till date, 19,247 connections were checked by the department, out of which total theft of 5,383.469 KW load was detected in 2,690 connections and a fine of Rs. 752.84 lakhs was imposed against the violators. Out of 781 connections in Panchkula, 24 connections were detected with theft of 20.82 KW and a fine of Rs. 3.25 lakhs was imposed in the power circles where checking was done. In Yamunanagar, out of 1,763 connections, theft of 134 KW was detected in 92 connections and fine of Rs. 10.80 lakhs was imposed, in Kurukshetra, out of 1,171 connections, theft of 243 KW was detected in 124 connections and fine of Rs. 29.16 lakhs was imposed. Penalties imposed on 186 violators out of total 916 connections in Kaithal and a fine of Rs. 40.62 lakhs was imposed on violators. He added that 143 out of 1392 connections in Karnal were caught stealing 295.55 KW and a fine of Rs. 35.24 lakhs was imposed. Similarly, out of 1,259 connections in Panipat, theft of 421.50 KW was detected in 205 connections and fine of Rs. 62.98 lakhs was imposed. (editor dailyworld.in)
