DW BUREAU / chandigarh The UN General Assembly for the promotion of solidarity and the spirit of sharing in combating poverty, proclaimed December 20 as International Human Solidarity Day. Keeping this in consideration, a team of NSS Volunteers from Carmel Convent School, sector-9, Chandigarh under the leadership of Preeti Swami, NSS Programme Officer marked it differently. The young enthusiastic volunteers arranged dog feed and mattresses for the Panjab University stray dogs. They also handed over huge drums for making short shelter homes for the dogs. They handed over all the stuff to Gaurav Gaur, NSS Programme Officer, Panjab University, Chandigarh. They distributed refreshments for the children living at different construction sites of Panjab University, Chandigarh. Here we can say that solidarity is one of the fundamental values of all relations in every Century and to make it possible wherein those who either suffer or benefit least deserve help from those who benefit most. This was proved true by these young volunteers by undertaking this generous act, said Gaurav Gaur while praising these youngsters. Preeti Swami, NSS Programme Officer shared the hard efforts put-in by these vibrant, active and energetic youth in collecting all such material and shaping up the whole event. (editor@dailyworld.in)
