The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for leasing more than 11 acres of prime land on the outskirts of Bathinda city to the AAP leader and Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) President Amarjit Mehta's son, Padamjit Singh Mehta at nominal rates.
As per some news reports, the land, which is close to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, has been given for 30 years for a commercial project. The land was donated to the Red Cross by a woman for the public good.
"After the matter came into the public, the Mehta family is reportedly planning to return the land. The land lease contract must be annulled immediately and a thorough probe should be conducted on the issue. The AAP government seems to have been hell-bent on giving undue benefits to those who provided the broom party with funds during elections. It appears to be the right time for the AAP to pay them back now", Bajwa added. Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that the AAP leadership should explain why they have been so kind to the Amarjit Mehta. He was elected as the president of the PAC last year. Meanwhile, more than 11 acres of land belonging to the Red Cross has been leased to his son. Can the AAP government rule out the possibility of wrongdoing in this lease contract?
"The kattar Imandar (staunch honest) government's corrupt deeds have been exposed. Earlier the people of Punjab taught them a lesson during Lok Sabha Election. Now the AAP government will again taste a humiliating defeat in the by-elections", Bajwa added.?
