DW BUREAU / SAMRALA Harinder Singh Lakhowal, General Secretary of BKU Lakhowal, in a press statement said here today that the creation of a new cooperative ministry by the Union government was against the spirit of federal concept. All political parties should oppose it in the coming Parliament session. This is an attempt to take away the federal rights of the states. He said the Central government after enactment of "anti-farmers laws" had once again ignored Parliament now with the creation of a new cooperative ministry. The Sanyukat Kisan Morcha will oppose this new mischief of the government like agriculture laws he said. He said as agriculture is a state subject as per the Constitution similarly the cooperative societies are the state subject which was listed at seventh schedule of the Constitution at serial number 32. Sugar mills, milk plants, milk societies, cotton mills and cooperative banks come under this system. This is an attempt of the Union government to take over the cooperative system. He said the government should have taken the consent of both the Houses of Parliament before enactment of this law. (editor@dailyworld.in)
