ATP, MC, JALANDHAR arrested by Punjab VB

category Regional, chandigarh , , tags Regional, chandigarh , , DW BUREAU Chandigarh Following a complaint by one Narinder Singh, resident of village Bath Kalan, District Jalandhar, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday arrested Ravi Pankaj Sharma, ATP, MC, Jalandhar and his two accomplices, namely Kunal Kohli and Arvind Sharma, both private individuals, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8 lakh from the complainant. Ashish Arora, another accused, is yet to be arrested. The complainant had alleged that the ATP had demanded Rs. 10 lakh from him in lieu of settling a complaint filed by the above-mentioned private persons in connection with alleged irregularities in construction of a marriage palace named Bath Castle by him at Jalandhar. He claimed that the accused ATP had already taken Rs. 2 lakh from him in two instalments. A VB team from Flying Squad, Mohali, laid a trap and arrested the above-mentioned accused while taking Rs. 8 lakh as bribe in the presence of official witnesses. An FIR No. 12, dated 21.03.2023 u s 7 PC Act 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act 2018 and 120-B IPC has been registered at PS VB FS-1 Mohali in this regard. In the subsequent search of the house of accused Kunal Kohli, the VB team recovered ATMs of several banks, two press identification cards besides confiscating five live cartridges and a revolver from his possession. Apart from this, several files with fake bogus complaints to be lodged against various persons were also recovered from his car, a VB spokesman said. (editor dailyworld.in)
