Apna Ghar centre of attraction at Surajkund Fair

category Regional,, tags Regional,, DW BUREAU The 37th ongoing International Surajkund Craft Fair, in Faridabad district, showcases the cultural heritage of Haryana in the exhibition Apna Ghar . It has become a centre of attraction for Haryana s craftsmanship. The Virasat exhibition at the fair has specially decorated Apna Ghar . Director Dr. Mahasingh Poonia said that in the heritage exhibition, all the traditional objects related to the villages of Haryana have been displayed which are now endangered. Virasat Heritage Village s effort is to preserve these items for our future generations so that they can also be proud of their culture. The exhibition also showcased the traditional methods of drawing water from wells during ancient times. Two people used to pull ropes tied on both sides of a well to draw water from it. Similarly, a pulley was used to draw water from wells. Here, the traditional method of sowing wheat and crops by farmers is demonstrated. Wooden, iron, and brass bells used for cows, buffaloes, elephants, and carts are also displayed. In ancient times, when an object fell into a well, the tools used to retrieve it from the well, such as hooks and ropes, were also exhibited. The exhibition also displays blocks used for block printing. These blocks are made of wood and used for printing fabrics. They are used for dyeing clothes. The exhibition also showcased the measurement scales used in rural areas for measuring grains and oil before the arrival of the British. Items like Khat and Pira are essential parts of our culture. Pira , Khatola , Khat , Pilang , Daihla , etc., are used in homes, gatherings, and community centres. (editor dailyworld.in)
