Expressing serious concern over the growing tendency among the Punjab cadre IAS and IPS officers to aspire for the central deputation, Senior Congress Leader and Punjab's Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday said that several IAS and IPS have either already gone to or they have been seeking the central deputation.
"Perhaps it is the 'discourteous' way of AAP's functioning in Punjab or maybe the immaturity of the AAP to govern in the state that has prompted the Punjab Cadre IAS and IPS officers to opt for the central deputation", LoP added.
Bajwa while referring to a news report said that as many as 10 IAS officers of the Punjab cadre have applied for Central deputation, some of which have recently got their appointment orders. Besides this, several IPS officers, after the AAP formed the government in March 2022, had gone for deputation.
Qadian Legislator, Bajwa said that it is only the AAP government led by CM Bhagwant that can explain what went wrong between the government and officers as they had sought the central deputation in such large numbers.
"A sheer lack of coordination between Punjab's bureaucracy and AAP government came to the fore lately when the Punjab Governor, Banwari Lal Purohit wrote a letter to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann regarding Mann's ignorance over the communications between Punjab Cheif Secretary and Governor on Chandigarh SSP Kuldeep Chahal's repatriation", Bajwa added while citing an instance.
The Opposition Leader went on to say that the AAP government recently appointed retired Delhi bureaucrats as chairman and member of the Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). The move indicated Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's bosses sitting in Delhi wanted to control and keep an eye on the functioning of Punjab-based bureaucrats.
"From the aforementioned occurrences, it is apparent that something is seriously wrong with the manner the AAP was dealing with the Punjab cadre officers", Bajwa added.
