DW BUREAU / Chandigarh A 14-years old girl missing from Uttar Pradesh was reunited with her parents, thanks to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Haryana Police. The girl is a differently-abled (Divyang) who had been living in a shelter home in Kerala. Sharing the information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that Child Welfare Inspector, Kozhikode (Kerala) had contacted with State Crime Branch, Haryana and told that they are facing a problem in locating the family of a missing Hindi-speaking girl due to language issue. The girl mistakenly reached Andhra Pradesh on a train and then reached Alleppey in Kerala. Due to being unaware of the language there, the minor was rescued by the Kerala Police and sent to the Child Care Center. After getting information, ASI Rajesh Kumar of AHTU Panchkula started working on the above case and started counselling the minor through video call. During counselling, it was found that due to being unaware of the language, she is unable to explain her point to the office bearers in Alleppey. While interacting with the staff there and going through the counselling, ASI Rajesh Kumar noticed that the girl belonged to Uttar Pradesh. During her counselling, the girl had said that she lived near a Mosque in Muzaffarnagar. Rajesh Kumar contacted the police stations in the area and spoke to the staff there which resulted in getting the contact number of the missing girl's family. The AHTU made a video call and shared picture of the girl with family members where the parents identified their daughter. The parents had lost hope of seeing their daughter again, but the hard work of the AHTU of State Crime Branch made the girl reunite with her parents. She was missing last three months. The spokesperson said that due to Malayalam being the language in Kerala, AHTU facing a problem in communication with officials there and the conversation could not be established. To solve this, the police contacted Haryana's DG of Police (Retd.) and sought help. In an effort to reunite the minor with his family, the DGP (Retd.) came forward and shared the number of one of his associates to ASI Rajesh Kumar, who had knowledge of both Hindi and Malayalam languages. With the help of the mediator, ASI Rajesh Kumar talked to the minor and the officials there and succeeded in counseling the girl. (editor@dailyworld.in)
