Jaipur, Oct 27 : The chief priest of Malaseri Dungri Temple in Rajasthan's Bhilwara, the place of worship of the Gurjar community in the state, has said neither he, nor the temple committee ever said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had put any envelope in the donation box. "It was never said while opening the donation box that the envelope belonged to the Prime Minister. This was a rumour," Hemraj Poswal told mediapersons in Jaipur, while claiming that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told "an imaginary story" in Dausa and Jhunjhunu about the envelope. A few days ago, Priyanka Gandhi had said during a public meeting in Dausa: "I saw on TV, I don't know whether it is true or not... that the Prime Minister had gone to Devnarayan ji's temple and brought an envelope. After 6 months, the envelope given by the Prime Minister was opened, the public was wondering. Such big leaders of the country had come... they left with an envelope." The priest further said: "Like every year, this year too, the donation box was opened in front of the committee and the entire society. Cash and envelopes were found in it. Local politicians of Asind-Bhilwara, who had a grudge against me, and the people of the temple committee, had spread rumours." "It was said that the Prime Minister put some envelope. On opening it, Rs 21 came out, but neither the temple committee nor I never made such a statement. Prime Minister Modi did not put any envelope in the donation box. Nor did it come out while opening the donation box. Local leaders spread rumours to tarnish the image of Sanatan Dharma, temple and PM Modi," he added. Poswal also said that Priyanka Gandhi's statements have hurt the sentiments of the people who believe in Lord Devnarayan, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and follow Sanatan Dharma. It needs to be mentioned that on January 28 this year, PM Modi had visited Malaseri Dungri. /IANS
