STPI Celebrates its 29th Foundation day.

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an organization under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India has celebrated its 29th foundation day by conducting an online session through #STPIPulse platform on Friday. Speakers from Government, Academia and Industry have participated in the following online sessions and shared their views. The event was live telecasted on facebook, Youtube also.There was four sessions conducted in the whole day event.
1: Policy: Role of Government in Driving Innovation & Product Development, 2. Inaugural Session, 3: Emerging Technologies & Innovation: Rechristening the Narratives of Indian IT Industry 4: Entrepreneurship & Future Skilling: India Ahead with Transformational Ideas, Disruptive Innovations, and Pool of Talent.
Shri Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary, MeitY, Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General '“ STPI, Shri. Devesh Tyagi, Senior Director, Shri Rajneesh Agrawal, Director STPI Noida and other reputed speakers have shared their views in the sessions.
Sessions were attended by more than 1000 people from IT/ITeS units/MSMEs/Start-ups across the country. The IT/ITeS units from Uttarakhand also attended the event online.
Out of 60 STPI centers across the country, 52 Centres are in Tier-II and Tier-III locations with an objective of a uniform and overall development of IT/ITES exports across the country.
STPI has also been instrumental in promoting IT exports from the State of Uttarakhand since inception of STPI centre in 2001 at Dehradun. Further, STPI developed state-of-the-art Incubation Facility of 15,000 sq.ft. at IT Park, Dehradun in 2006. Over the years, centre have played a very important role to promote the region as a preferred IT destination and acted as single window agency for IT/ITES industry. Software exports made by 13 no. of STP units from the state of Uttarakhand was recorded Rs. 144.12 Cr. in the year 2019-20 putting the State in commendable position in the IT Map of the Country. While exports clocked by 18,000 STP-registered units stands at INR 4,21,103 crore during 2019-20 across the country. STPI's efforts have also created direct employment generation, indirect employment and overall development of economy of the region. During the COVID-19 lock down period these units have also made exports worth Rs. 34 Crore.
13 no. of IT/ITeS units/MSMEs/Start-ups are availing the incubation services from existing incubation facility at Dehradun. These units have created direct and indirect employment(approx.) of 140 and 560 respectively till FY 2018-19.
India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) under Digital India Program which envisage to create employment opportunities for the youth of the country by promoting IT/ITES industry particularly by setting up BPO/ITES operation in smaller cities.
The IBPS scheme has been very successful in the State of Uttarakhand with allotment of 550 seats to the 7 units out of which 6 units with 500 seats have started their operation.
