Jammu, April 2 : After a local microbiologist engaged in the war against COVID-19 himself tested positive, three of his family members have also now been shifted to the Jammu medical college hospital for treatment. The plight of the family came to light when a video was posted on Facebook by 'Jammu Samvad', a news portal, that showed doctor Nahida Sikander wife of Sikander Chirag imploring for help as she found herself, her father-in-law, her mother-in-law and another inmate sick with flu symptoms. In the touching video that showed the helplessness of Nahida, she was shown imploring again and again that her husband had contracted the virus while helping the victims of the dreaded virus. Sikander Chiraj, an assistant professor in microbiology department of Jammu medical college had already tested positive because of his professional duties while assessing suspects for the dreaded virus and trying to help them. While he was being treated at the COVID-19 treatment facility at the medical college hospital in Jammu, his family remained without any help in their hour of distress. Dara Singh, superintendent of government medical college hospital and incharge of the COVID-19 patients treatment facility in Jammu city spoke to IANS about the plight of the family. "We have shifted Dr. Nahida Chirag, her mother-in-law, her father-in-law and another inmate of the house to our hospital. "Dr. Nahida, her father-in-law and the inmate have tested positive while the mother-in-law has tested negative. "These three patients are being treated now while Dr. Sikander Chirag is already under our treatment. " All of them are stable. We have now a total of 15 positive cases in the hospital and all of them are showing signs of recovery". /IANS
